Group Seminar
Room 26.33.00.033 – ca. 45–60 min; every Tuesday at 09:00, except Christmas Break and August
Our group seminar consists in presentations by our (post)doctoral researchers and occasionally in thesis presentations (introductory or final) by BSc and MSc students.
Our (post)doctoral researchers either introduce a selected, recent research publication or hold a mini-lecture on topic of their choice. The presentations are always followed by questions and discussions on related topics.
Presentations focusing on our research projects take place in biannual symposia, held in July (Summer Symposium) and December (Winter Symposium), respectively.
Bachelor
Pflichtmodul „Prinzipien der Makromolekularen Chemie“ (PMC) – auf Deutsch
+ Vorlesung “Makro I”
im Wintersemester, donnerstags 10:30–12:00
Ansprechpartner: Prof. Dr. Guillaume Delaittre
+ Praktikum
in vorlesungsfreien Zeiten, entweder Februar–März or August–September
Ansprechpartnerin: Dr. Monir (Mina) Tabatabai
Qualifikationsmodul „Moderne Makromolekulare Chemie“ (MC-QM) – in English
Contact: Prof. Dr. Guillaume Delaittre
This module is usually the preparatory step to the Bachelor thesis in our group. The grade is obtained via an oral exam on the content of the lecture and of the internship. To validate the module, a short report is required if the student does not continue with us for their Bachelor thesis.
+ Lecture „Block Copolymer Nanotechnology“
usually as block lecture
+ Research Internship
3 weeks, full time
The student works together with a (post)doctoral researcher.
+ Seminar presentations
At the beginning of their internship, the students present themselves and their planned project in the group meeting in a short, pitch-like format. No questions are asked.
At the end of the internship, the students present their results and discuss them with the entire group.
Master
Pflichtmodul „Organische Chemie“ (MoPoS)
This module is jointly organized in the Summer Semester by the Professors of the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Macromolecular Chemistry and consists in two to three lectures (depending on exact course of study). The grade is obtained by writing an exam combining all lectures. Here are described only the teaching items of the Chair of Macromolecular Chemistry.
+ Lecture “Advanced Macromolecular Chemistry” aka “Makro II” – in English
Thursdays 10:30–12:00
Contact: Prof. Dr. Guillaume Delaittre
+ Übung – auf Deutsch
Termine werden am Anfang des Semesters angekündigt.
Ansprechpartnerin: Dr. Monir (Mina) Tabatabai
Spezialisierungspflichtmodul „Advanced Materials“ (AdMat-V)
This module is held in the Summer Semester by six Professors and group leaders of the Chemistry Department (Delaittre, Janiak, Müller, Schmidt, Suta, Vasylyeva-Shor). Each of them hold a lecture accounting for 1 SWS. In addition, some of them organize a practical course. Here are described only the teaching items of the Chair of Macromolecular Chemistry.
+ Lecture “Soft Matter Systems” – in English
Tuesdays (from June 9 on) 10:30 – 12:00, room 26.33.00.033
Contact: Prof. Dr. Guillaume Delaittre
+ Praktikum – auf Deutsch
Termine werden am Anfang des Semesters angekündigt.
Ansprechpartnerin: Dr. Monir (Mina) Tabatabai
Wahlpflichtmodul „Angewandte Makromolekulare Chemie“
Contact: Prof. Dr. Guillaume Delaittre
This module, in principle held in the Winter Semester, consists in two lectures. Until now, one lecture was held in English by Prof. Delaittre, the other in German by Dr. Tabatabai. To validate the module, the student must hold a presentation (20 min, plus questions) on a topic of their choice, related to one the lectures. The grade is obtained during an oral exam.
+ Lecture „Block Copolymer Nanotechnology“ – in English
usually as block lecture, appointments will be organized upon request
+ Vorlesung „großtechnische Prozesse“ – auf Deutsch
generell as Blockvorlesung, Termine werden nach Anfrage organisiert
Note: From the Winter Semester 2026–2027 on, this module will be replaced by a module on sustainable macromolecular chemistry and biotechnology, organized jointly by Prof. Dr. Guillaume Delaittre and Dr. Max Linhorst.
Wahlpflichtmodul „Moderne Makromolekulare Chemie“
Contact: Prof. Dr. Guillaume Delaittre
This module is the same as the Bachelor qualification module of the same name (see above) and can be picked by Master students wanting to perform experimental work in our group, and in parallel follow an additional lecture in macromolecular science.
Wahlpflichtmodul „Forschungsmodul in Makromolekularer Chemie“ (FMC)
Contact: Prof. Dr. Guillaume Delaittre
This module focuses on experimental work (no lecture).
+ Research Internship
At least 3.5 weeks, full time
The student works together with a (post)doctoral researcher.
+ Seminar presentations
At the beginning of their internship, the students present themselves and their planned project in the group meeting in a short, pitch-like format. No questions are asked.
At the end of the internship, the students present their results and discuss them with the entire group.
